BIOGRAPHY
Nicole Gutierrez has been teaching and performing voice and piano in New Mexico for the past 8 years. She has trained under Dave Stroud (who has most recently worked with Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Scott Stapp (lead singer from CREED), Rachel Lampa, Justin Beiber, Cheetah Girls, Jaime Cullum and more), Kathy Kennedy, and Seth Riggs. She is currently completing her certification in Speech Level Singing...the vocal technique created by Seth Riggs and used by over 120 Grammy Award Winners. Nicole works with recording artists, musical theater performers, rock/jazz/pop vocalists, beauty pageant participants, worship teams and child performers. She is the vocal coach for “INTERPLAY”. Her students have received music scholarships for college and many perform in New Mexico and around the country. She is passionate about the study of contemporary music, giving her students the tools they need to be proficiently creative musicians and performers.
At age 7, Nicole began her formal piano training. At age 11, she began her formal training in voice. After graduating high school, Nicole studied music while playing soccer at the University of Iowa. Following these years, she had the unique opportunity to play semi-pro soccer and work with a relief organization in the Philippines, England and Moldova.
She is a previous member of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Las Cantantes & UNM’s Jazz Band. She has performed with numerous bands around the country, and can be found performing jazz and pop piano and vocals in Albuquerque. Her vision for Interplay School of Music began 7 years ago, upon seeing the need to provide students with quality contemporary music education. Nicole is passionate about teaching students how to play and perform together, and giving them opportunities to perform locally and regionally.
