BIOGRAPHY

Maja Lisa has maintained a private voice studio for the past 4 years in Iowa City and Philadelphia, PA. She has also taught at the University of Iowa and Stagecoach school of the Arts. Her students have been cast as leads in many Musicals and recieved top awards. She has also been the music director or High School Musical, Willy Wonka, The Jungle Book, Music Man, and Thourally Modern Milly.

Maja Lisa FritzHuspen’s debut into the world of opera was in the role of Mother in Menotti’s
Amahl and the Night Visitors. The venue for this popular Christmas classic was the grand opening of the newly renovated, historic Englert Theater in Iowa City, Iowa. She had sung Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi with the Delaware Valley Opera Company of Philadelphia. Maja Lisa has also sung the roles of Mrs. Jenks in the Tenderland, La Ciesca, in Gianni Schicchi, and Mercy Lewis in The Crucible. With the Martha Ellen Tye Opera Theater she was cast as Mimi (cover) in La Boheme . She has performed as a Young Artist with the Cedar Rapids Opera outreach company in the role of Wife of the Giant in Jack and the Beanstalk , and also was also awarded first place in The Schubert Club Intermediate Category competition. She recently appeared as the featured soloist with the Bismarck Symphony Orchestra and the featured performer at the North Dakota July 4th Capital Concert.

Her recital performances have included Concert Arias by Mozart, Margaret Songs, Libby Larsen, 6 Romance, Verdi. Maja Lisa has presented a multi-media recital of William Blake’s poems and paintings from Song of Innocence and Experience, with music by Vaughn Williams. She has been featured on the Schubert Club courtroom recital series in St. Paul. She has also been a church soloist in Minneapolis and in Philadelphia.

As a chorister and vocal performer, Maja Lisa has sung in Russia, Finland, Estonia and Paris. She has performed Brahm’s Requiem, Puccini’s Mass in C, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. She has toured the West Coast with the Augsburg College Orchestra as their featured soloist.
