BIOGRAPHY
Berklee College of Music graduate Gregg Smith teaches music lessons in and around the Washington DC area and on the internet via web-cam. He plays and offers lessons in drums, piano, guitar and bass. Musical tastes cover everything from Rock, Pop, Classical, Rap, Metal and New Age. Gregg offers a unique approach to teaching that stems from his years of studying yoga, fitness, meditation and music theory. “I learned so many ways to do things the wrong way that were just setbacks down the road for me musically, it’s not that my teachers weren’t teaching me anything, but just maybe not the best approach. My goal is to help you the student avoid as many of these pitfalls as possible.”
Lessons are custom tailored to fit the students needs at a pace they can handle, covering a wide base of subjects ranging from conducting to notation, ear training, and theory. Focus will be on correct posture, breathing, form and execution , which are necessary for good blood flow, flexibility and stamina that in the end will help avoid injury and progress musical advancement.
Gregg has a degree in Music Technology and can help with educating the student in the art of recording and/or the building of an at home recording studio. He has worked as an instrument sales associate at Guitar Center and can help with the selection of the right equipment that will work for your needs.
Arrangements can be made for lessons at your house or at Gregg’s studio in Woodbridge, VA.
