Later on, he served on the Boards of Trustees at the Kinhaven Music School in Weston, Vt., and the Skylands Youth Symphony in Sussex County, N.J., where he was also the music director and conductor. In 1990, he performed for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican, and was a soloist in the Rutter Requiem at Carnegie Hall under the baton of the composer, John Rutter.
